Severe Weather

Today, my friends has been the kind of day we read about but don’t usually experience. We have had severe weather and my WiFi was out. It is on again. My phone died. My IPad updated and nothing was working. I will stop here. I am dedicating  Jim Morrison’s song to my day because it is making it the day better already.  I also received a book of prayers in the mail and that also helps. Tomorrow will be a bright new day and I have a drumming circle to attend in the afternoon.  So I am sending all of you my best wishes and many blessings.  Hugs, Barbara

Harvest Moon

Some time today, all of you my friends and family will see a great big beautiful Harvest Moon. I hope you enjoy the magic of this celestial body and I hope It shines on each of you with Divine white light and all will be well in your lives. Blessings and sing along if you can.

The Night Dances

Gathering flowers

gathering of the flowers

” A smile fell in the grass.
Irretrievable!

And how will your night dances
Lose themselves. In mathematics?

Such pure leaps and spirals—-
Surely they travel

The world forever, I shall not entirely
Sit emptied of beauties, the gift

Of your small breath, the drenched grass
Smell of your sleeps, lilies, lilies.

Their flesh bears no relation.
Cold folds of ego, the calla,

And the tiger, embellishing itself——-
Spots, and a spread of hot petals.

The coments
Have such a space to cross,

Such coldness, forgetfulness
So your gestures flake off——

Warm and human, then their pink light
Bleeding and peeling
Through the black amnesias of heaven
Why am I given

These lamps, these planets
Falling like blessings, like flakes

Six-sided, white
On my eyes, my lips, my hair

Touching and melting/
Nowhere.
—–Sylvia Plath

I have always been a night person, night owl of the lyrics. My mind rushes with ideas, my eyes filled with the heavenly lights, the moon, stars, planets and the shooting stars. Alone with the Divine lights and my soul. I meditate, paint, read, and write. The night makes my heart free. Ah, and then the morning. Not my time to function. My body is heavy and my mind vague and fuzzy. I really love to awaken slowly with a stretch of limbs to open my heart and soul to the love that fills me. I am seldom understood. But what can I say, the night dances.

Peace Begins at Home

Many people talk about peace, write about peace, sing about peace and march about peace. This is all very wonderful, however, how does it actually start?  What is the germ of peace that gets planted that makes people want to work for peace?

I believe that the desire for peace is within our souls at birth and it is a desire that cell memory carries. Every cell of every organ is imprinted with peace. I am not going to address those people like Hitler or Ted Bundy. That is another discussion.

As we grow into childhood and adulthood, we develop thoughts. Some thoughts are good and some are not so good. Some are evil even. Thoughts have energy and as we “think” the good thoughts go out into the Universe and bring good energy and vibrations. Evil ones or bad ones work the same. This is why affirmations and positive thinking are so important.

If I tell myself that I am stupid or ugly every day, I will begin to believe it. That negativity will effect myself and everything around me. So it is vital to watch your thoughts. If you have a negative one, replace it with a positive one. Practicing gratitude everyday is also creating positive thoughts.  Thoughts go out into this world and can affect nature, plants, trees, animals, insects, even our water. Studies have been done and the results are remarkable. You may want to look at my blogs from last year.

Once we begin to watch our thoughts and keep them positive as much as possible, then the cell memories have the ability to grow and thrive. Peace begins to fill us and as we are filled, peace emanates from our beings and people can feel the peace when they are around us. The opposite is also true.  As we feel positive about people and life, we begin to feel like doing things that help others. Perhaps volunteer work. Perhaps joining a Peace organization. You begin to bring peace to others and your actions and words bring peace in your life. The ripple starts with you and moves outward until neighborhoods, cities, counties and countries feel more peaceful. Now if half of the people on our planet would start with positive thoughts, can you imagine the difference this would make in the world?

Try it. Creating peace is free and feels wonderful.

Late Summer Garden

I have a small garden. After my last gardens, I have a tiny one. But it is filled with Perennials and Annuals and some shrubs such as a Smoke Bush, Lace-top hydrangea, and some evergreens. I also have a container garden on the front porch. So here is a peek.

The Seasons of our Life

In the silence, we hear the voice of God from wirhin

In the silence, we hear the voice of God from within

Birth, growth, fading, death, the wheel of life turns and we turn with it. Ideas are born, projects are consummated, plans prove impractical and die. We are born, we suffer loss, we fall in love and out of love, we give birth and we grow old.

When we are conscious of Mother Earth, we see ourselves as parts of the whole .We come to the point where we can let go of trying to control our lives. We are constantly reminded of the changes in life. We need to accept the change of seasons, feast and famine. good health and illness. We live with light and dark, cold and warmth. We are full of life and at times we are empty. All of these things control our experience of  life. We could experience this as the experience of human consciousness.

Inevitably into every life comes times for action and then times of waiting. As we live longer and longer we find we must start to learn how to fit ourselves into the kind of human being we need to be in each new phase of life. We are going to need to look at our dreams and learn to dream new dreams that corresponds to life as it is experienced at that time.

There is the time for sowing the seeds of our life, a time to harvest those seeds, sometimes there is leavetaking and loss. Life can feel as if it is in decline.

There are those who say we have a resting cycle. We become closer to our inner selves and to the Divinity which dwells there. I personally, look to learning new things and doing what I have never done before. Life is fertile and there is nothing to fear in the darkness…the light will return.

“It is our quiet time.
We do not speak, because the voices are within us.
It is our quiet time.
We do not walk, because the earth is all within us.
It is our quiet time…
—–Nancy Wood

“Again, again we come and go.
changed, changing Hands
join, unjoin in love and fear.
Grief and joy. The circles turn,
each giving into each, into all.”
—-Wendell Berry

Cycles of our lives

Cycles of our lives

” Behold, my brothers, the spring has come;
The earth has received the embraces of the sun
And we shall soon see the results of that love!

Every seed is awakened and so has all animal life.
It is through this mysterious power that we too have our being
And we therefore yield to our neighbors,
Even our animal neighbors,
The same right as ourselves, to inhabit this land.”

—–Sitting Bull

Our life cycles are in conjunction with our Mother Earth. Do not betray her.

The Ecological Self

The United States President, Barak Obama has gone on the record that he is against the Keystone Pipeline if it will hurt the environment. I was waiting for this announcement and knew he would come out on the side of Mother Earth.

Politics right now in Washington stink. Congress was elected by their states to represent the will and wishes of the people. They aren’t. Out of 365 days, they have worked 126. They are doing this without censor from the party leaders. If you or I showed up to work a third of the days we were supposed to work, we would be fired. If you don’t believe me, try it and please let me know if your boss pats you on the back and tells you not to worry about it.

The ecological self, like any notion of selfhood, is simply a metaphor, but it is a dynamic one. It involves choice. We can choose at different moments to identify to different aspects of our interrelated existence. We each can choose whether we care about those who hunt whales or not. We can care about homeless human beings or not. We can choose to participate in the long-standing rape of Mother Earth or we can choose to care. We can choose to recycle, support politicians who care about Mother Earth and whose voting record proves it.

“Look deeply, I arrive in every second
to be a bud on a spring branch,
to be a tiny bird, with wings still fragile,
learning to sing in my new nest,
to be a caterpillar in the heart of a flower
to be a jewel hiding itself in a stone…
Please call me by my true names,
so I can wake up.
and so the door of my heart can be left open,
the door of compassion.”
—–Thich Nhat Hanh
